A Big Thank You!
26th January 2024
We would firstly like to thank each of you who donated! The Clocktower Sanctuary does incredible, vital work in and around the city – they support young people experiencing homelessness, providing them with food, clothes, other necessities and support with securing jobs and homes. For 25 years, they have provided their services from a day centre, including hot meals, showers, laundry services, arts workshops, and lessons. Their help has truly changed lives and continues to do so. TCS volunteers are the backbone of the organisation, but none of their work could be achieved without the generosity of the public’s donations.
Brighton & Hove has the second highest levels of homelessness outside of London at 3,700 (Shelter-2021). And post-Covid, we are also seeing higher numbers of people with complex needs. As a letting agent, we recognise our social responsibility to advocate for, and engage in, causes that truly matter and that are close to home.
Each year, CTS hold a ‘Big City Sleepout’ fundraiser, where people come together to experience what one night sleeping in the elements can feel like and gain an insight into an all too common circumstance for people in our city. This year, a few Coapt employees (the wonderful Hannah, Zoe, Jess, and Adam) took part in this fundraiser, sleeping (without a tent) in the elements of the seafront in early December. A truly eye-opening experience for those involved and we are incredibly proud to announce that we raised £1772, adding to their total of £41,269. To give some perspective of how fantastic this is – here is a rough breakdown of what your money could do for their clients:
- £10 can pay for a young person to have a shower, wash their clothes, and eat a healthy, hot meal.
- £20 can pay for a new pair of shoes or clothing for a job interview or first day of work.
- £200 can pay for us to train and support a volunteer to support a young person.
- £500 can pay for a young homeless person to access all our support and facilities for two months.
The Clocktower Sanctuary have many events throughout the year to fundraise – find more information about what’s coming up here: https://www.thects.org.uk/events/
Coapt are immensely proud and grateful for your generosity in donations and of the impact of our clients, contacts, and friends. We are proud to have matched all donations received from Coapt Landlords too!
