27th November 2025
Shakespeare’s Head- 1 Chatham Pl, Brighton BN1 3TP
-
A proper student-friendly pub, alsoknown as the bangers ‘n’ mash pub so you know the kitchen’s good!
-
The roast dinners are well reviewed (4.3/5 on Tripadvisor) cosy, friendly vibe, good drinks list. Tripadvisor
-
Worth booking ahead (it gets busy) and maybe pre-order, especially if you’ve got a group, because stuff sells out quickly. Website here: Shakespeare’s Head
The Farm Tavern-13 Farm Rd, Hove BN3 1FB
-
Sunday roasts served 12–6 pm, often with meat and veggie/vegan options (pork, chicken, beef or tofu pie / lentil & oat haggis).
-
Good if you want a bit of flexibility (someone veggie? someone meat-loving?), and still want a proper roast-dinner vibe
-
Small kitchen + limited booking slots (max 8 people on Sundays), so booking is wise. The Farm Tavern
Embers- 42 Meeting House Ln, Brighton BN1 1HB
-
According to recent guides, Embers is among the top Sunday-roast spots in Brighton & Hove.
-
Their roast menus come with a variety of meats and well-prepped sides (potatoes, cauliflower purée or cheese, carrots, etc.) solid comfort-food done with care.
-
If you want something a bit more than a standard pub roast but don’t want to spend loads, Embers is a nice balance.
The Coal Shed-Clarence House 30-31 North St, Brighton BN1 1EB
-
If you’re up for something a little fancier — The Coal Shed does charcoal-/open-fire roasted meats and have been doing top-quality Sunday roasts for over a decade.
-
Their roasts come with all the trimmings: roast potatoes, heritage carrots, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings, gravy- the works.
-
Slightly more pricey than some pubs, but worth it if you want something a bit special (maybe for a treat or a group meal). The Coal Shed
