Fundraising with Coapt
4th July 2019
The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a local charity that here at Coapt we have supported for many years now. They work with young homeless people in Brighton and Hove. Their focus is homeless people aged 16-25 who have usually had a relationship breakdown within their family and have nowhere to go. The charity aspires to act as a new home for them. Their ethos is to ‘provide a friendly, bright, centrally-located, safe space for young people to engage with their peers and other visiting agencies – without the worry of having to share a service with older homeless people who can be intimidating.’
Again, this year, we are doing what we can to help raise money for the charity by taking part in some of their events. Two of our directors, Leon Mepham and Toby Hamilton, abseiled from 500 feet i360 on Brighton seafront yesterday, followed by a celebratory Hawaiian themed picnic on the beach. With a target of £400.00, Leon has raised well over £1,000.00 and still counting! If you would like donate to Leon, his Just Giving page is: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/leon-mephami360drop/
It may be too late to join in on the abseil now, but the Clock Tower Sanctuary hold charity events throughout the year. On Saturday 28th September 2019, there is a ‘Sleepout for the Sanctuary’. It’s £25 per person to have a sleepout at Brighton’s Open Air Theatre, where you can have fish & chips for dinner, hot drinks, yoga and gentle music to help you get to sleep. Additionally, there is sleepout on the i360’s boarding deck on Monday 16th December 2019 with a fundraising pledge of £300.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to do something more active, there is the Brighton Marathon in April 2020. Of course, we can also donate money to the charity all year round to help tackle the rising young person homelessness in our city.
