What to look for when viewing student properties

So you’ve got your group together and know where you’d like to live, it’s time to book some viewings!

• Look through our website and use the filters to create a shortlist, then pick your favourites ( we suggest three at a time) and give us a call to book.
• Make a list of things that are important to you and take it with you on the viewing. For example, do you have a bike and need side access and storage to avoid taking it through the house? Want to avoid arguments over washing up and want a dishwasher?
• Think practically. Do you feel the cold? Check if the windows are single or double glazed and weather it has gas central heating or electric heaters – if in doubt look at the energy performance certificate. Check the pressure of the taps and showers, especially if the property is spread out over multiple levels. Look out for mould – do you know the difference between mould caused by condensation or damp?
• Finally, if there’s something you want just ask! From advice on other properties to view, to replacing items of furniture and redecoration, we are more that happy to put your request to the landlord. Don’t forget, if there is anything you are promised on the viewing to speak to the admin team and ask for it to be written into the contract.
